Tribune Davao wins Best Community Paper plum

The Daily Tribune local edition in Mindanao has been adjudged Best Community Newspaper in the Philippines for 2013. The award was given by the Rotary Club of Manila in luncheon rites Wednesday at the Manila Polo Club. The Daily Tribune Davao is the local edition of The Daily Tribune national newspaper. Aside from Tribune, 10 other media entities and personalities received citations from the Rotary Club of Manila for its Journalism Awards 2013. Former Bulacan Gov. Obet Pagdanganan is the president of the Manila Rotary while Babe Romualdez chaired the awards committee. Other than Tribune Davao, winners of the Manila Rotary’s Journalism Awards are: ABS-CBN, Television Station of the Year; Mike Enriquez, Broadcast Journalist of the Year for TV; dzMM, Radio Station of the Year; Deo Macalma and Milky Rigonan, Broadcast Journalists of the Year for Radio; Philippine Star, National Newspaper of the Year; Business Mirror, Business Newspaper of the Year; Federico Pascual, Journalist of the Year; Bobit Avila, Columnist of the Year; Kapihan sa Diamond, Media Forum Award; Bulong Pulungan sa Sofitel, Media Forum Special Recognition. In winning the Community Newspaper of the Year award, The Daily Tribune Davao bested hundreds of community newspapers operating in the country today. The award was personally received by Ver Bermudez, editor of Tribune Davao, during the ceremonies timed with Rotary Club Manila’s 45th Meeting for 2012-2013 at the sprawling Forbes Park convention facility.
