Press Release
The GREATEST PERFORMANCE of My Life popularized by Ms Shirley Bassey (in the 60’s) is back again… This time, a 13 year old incoming second year high school student from Ateneo de Davao University and formerly a grade school graduate of the University of Immaculate Concepcion literally grabbed the stage last May 20 during the TALENT Edge Mindanao Grand Finals Part 1.
surprised the entire audience as well as the judges on her rendition of the very popular classic song which is much older than her… No less than the National Director of the WORLD COPA (Competition Of Performing Arts) Philippines witnessed this surprise performance from young Jayrah. When asked how he finds Jayrah’s belting performance, Mr. Gerry Mercado said that even on the high notes/high range, he was still able to understand the words enunciated by Jayrah. The National Director said that Jayrah given her very young age was able to interpret the song well as he felt the song Jayrah sang.
Talent Edge Mindanao had Mr. Jed Madela, the Grand Champion of World COPA before, as their special guest. Jayrah together with the other Talent Edge Finalists did several songs with Jed. Jayrah again took the front act of making the first part of the opening song that the group sung with Jed. Jayrah got the audience’s attention as well as Jed’s when she was the only one amongst the finalists who appeared at ease with the master champion when he tapped the shoulders of Jed as she was interpreting her portion of the song getting a smile from him.
Jayrah moved to the MAIN Grand Finals last May 26 together with the 6 Ladies and 7 Males all within the ages 17 – 20 and mostly, are in the College Level. The finalists show cased their talents in acting, dancing, and singing. Talent Edge Finalists were graded in their talents in four areas: hosting/modeling, acting, dancing, and singing.
Jayrah danced the Latin Dance Rumba, did an excellent drama acting, and sang the song “IN MY LIFE” another great classic song of Ms. Shirley Bassey.
Director Arthur Zata of Talent Edge Mindanao announced those who are included to compete in the WORLD COPA on July 2014 in California USA… And young Jayrah Kaye Adeva has been included to train for 1 year and compete in the WORLD COPA next year. Like the Sports Olympics wherein chosen athletes train for four years to compete, those delegates for the WORLD COPA are given one year to train and prepare well for this prestigious event in July 2014.
Before the Grand Finals, young Jayrah considered the Baby/Bata (being the youngest in age as well as experience in Performing arts) amongst the finalists had never been a strong head turner in her performance. Given her young age and this being her very first experience of such competition, no one really considers her as a strong contender to be included in the World COPA… Almost NOT able to join the said unique talent search from amongst over 1,000 contestants as she as late in submitting her application form last April, Jayrah hurdled the almost two months workshops, elimination rounds, and up to the Grand Finals. Her surprised performances in the Grand Finals pulled her through and simply send a message that you can not really take lightly this 13 year old lady “Dark Horse” so to speak.
As one of the judges said, this 13 year old girl who had reached the Grand Finals and chosen to the WORLD COPA delegates, many more great things await this young lady named Jayrah in the years ahead… It has been researched that Jayrah composed over 8 songs thus far. She loves to sing and compose songs as a hobby. Her favorite singers are Beyonce, Shirley Bassey to name some… What lies ahead for Jayrah in the performing arts is the next exciting part to watch… What that is? Well, your guess is as good as mine… God Speed to Jayrah
