Mati Citihood and Pujada Bay Fest 2015

When you hear the name of these places like Dahican Beach, Pujada Island and Sleeping Dinosaur you know it is in Mati City and of course no visitor leaves the City without taking a picture to the iconic ‘ I Love Mati’ sign in Baywalk Park. Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat Gayta in her Welcome Message she recalls , the year was 2007 when the Commmission on Elections officially proclaimed the ratification of Republic Act 9408 converting the Municipality of Mati into a component city to be known as City of Mati. Making June 19 as their celebration for the Citihood while the Pujada Bay Festival was created to promote and protect its rich marine biodiversity. “The celebration should be the time to be grateful for the people who paved the way and making Mati what it is today”, sh adds. City Mayor Carlo Rabat formally declared the opening of theThe 8th Citihood and 12th Pujada Bay Festival last June 15 at the Baywalk Park. “Mati has come long way and this wouldn’t be possible without the love and commitment of the people”, Rabat said during his speech. According to Mayor Rabat, the events highlights the best things Mati can offer to the visitors and the Matinians as well such as the white sand beaches, delectabe food and even entertainment. “Sauna ang pangutana nila sa ako ‘Where is Mati? pero karon nga we’re present in travel magazines and trending on social media, ‘ I Love Mati’ na!”,he adds. Gov. Corazon graced the occasion and after the opening they proceeded to the Agri Tourism Trade Fair for the ribbon cutting. The Trade Fair ends on June 18 with nightly entertainment with clustered barangays, June 16 schedule were Panaghugpong sa mga Mag-Uuma Ug Mananagat heldat the Pelaez Gymn, FantaSea The Search for the Queen of the Sea held at the Baywalk Park. June 17 events were Pujada Bay Fest Bana Race at Mati Warf, the opening of the 2 day Kanaato Ini Job Fair of Cong. Nelson Dayanghirang. Mutya ng City if Mati Coronation Night held at Mati Socio Cultural Center lat June 18. Meanwhile, the celebration culminates in Pasasalamat ni Mayor Carlo, Vice Mayor Glenda and City Council in Baywalk Park on June 19 with special guest Joseph Marco of Pasion de Amor.
