CITY OF MATI – To jumpstart 2017  the Green Communities Program now strengthens its drive to promote backyard gardening aimed to promote food sufficiency by launching it in 26  barangays.

Vice Mayor and Barangay Integration for the Development and Action (BIDA) Programs Director Glenda Rabat-Gayta said that this is to cater the growing demand of the program in each community.

“To create a more cohesive name  and not only exclusive for urban areas, the Cycle 2 will be  called as  Home Farming Container Gardening” she added.

Meanwhile, Cycle 2 will introduce entrepreneurship and leadership to the 26 Top Performers of Cycle 1 and replication to new identified areas.

This will also introduce new community extension arm of the program  including  23 Barangay Integrators, they are the community leaders  who were trained in container gardening last Oct  2014 and  Monitoring and Evaluation Capabilities Training last January 26, 2017 . This is to prepare them  in expanding the advocacy in their  respective barangay.

Meanwhile, the media and promotion of the GreenCom Program is in close partnership with Kalamboan sa Barangay Advocacy Program.
