Davaor Oriental State College of Science and Technology Vice President for Reaserach and Extension Division,  Dr. Roy Ponce talks about the process on how the Green Com Program was created, the  importance of monitoring and evaluation and the benefits of tying up with the Academe. Dr. Roy Ponce also invited other agencies to partner with them .

Dr. Roy asked , VM Glenda Rabat-Gayta, what made this program  a  success .

VM Glenda answered, ” People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. When it comes to the success of the program, it was the monitoring and evaluation that made it all sense because we know what problems that needs  to be addressed on the spot and lastly the power of recognition, we never thought that a simple congratulation and a plaque will do wonders, now our code reds are promoting the program without us telling them.”

Then, Dr. Roy Ponce also addressed the question to Jojo Rom  on what are  the benefits of the Urban Container Gardening  in the family .

Jojo Rom replied. ” UCG when introduced to the household,  slowly you reconnect them back to the environment . Once you connect yourself  to the soil  you will have  energy and it will  give you power. If you talk about empowerment having food in your table will give them  enthusiasm and they  will  feel the presence of our  creator. Once  the person has high moral ground they can now ask more realistic help from the government.

Lastly  Mayor Carlo Rabat  said, “The program is very clear towards  achieving  its goals, and I can say it  is really a success  because we have close coordination with DOSCST  when it comes to the technical aspect. I believe our Housing Head Marikit is happy to hear that they can now afford to pay for their amortization. I also congratulate our partners communities, agencies and the BIDA Program Director Glenda because they will  make sure that the program will continue and I’m very happy for the UCG Cycle 2.

Meanwhile, The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor  (PCUP) read the Certificate of  Appreciation fro  Dr. Roy Ponce and Dr.  Edelito Sumile for their partnership last Oct. 24-25  at the DOSCST Mini Hotel.

Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat- Gayta gave a a brief message to the audience before introducing the AVP prepared by the City of Mati , ”  I feel so sad  and we really missed him, our Daddy Ents. But he knew that his days were numbered. The reason why he  was still working even though he was not okay because  he knew  the depth of the program and our  Mayor believed and supported the it.”

Mayor Carlo Rabat delivered his inspirational message, “When I read the program that  was presented to me  2 years ago , I could say that its is really a good program . I’m very happy of the State College with Dr. Roy Ponce and Jojo Rom who is one of the inspirations  of the program. I also acknowledge the  participating agencies and of course and Program Director Glenda Rabat Gayta. Rest assured I will support this program. I hope you will  continue to support this as well.

The emcee closes the program and invites everyone for a coffee and pictorial in the photo booth.  Mugs are also given to the guests as a token for gracing the event
